TESTIMONIALS

"My rotation in Family Medicine with Dr. J was the best learning experience I had out of all three rotations that I did in the U.S. It's evident that Dr. J is passionate about advocating for her patients in any capacity she can via providing incredibly thorough care. After learning the ropes of how the practice is run, I had the opportunity to take patient histories, perform physical exams, write SOAP notes, and present patients to Dr. J to get feedback in order to improve. Because Dr. J graduated from residency relatively recently, it's clear that she knows what is expected of a present-day resident and coached me in how to be excellent and to impress future attendings. Dr. J teaches in a way that is thought-provoking rather than lecturing, so I was able to strengthen my critical clinical thinking skills during the month of this rotation. In addition to the academic excellence this month provided, Dr. J is incredibly welcoming and friendly, so San Diego felt like home very quickly! Any concerns or questions I had were happily answered in addition to restaurant and activity recommendations galore. She truly cares about all of her students' successes and tries to aid in that success in every way possible. My only regret is not doing the rotation sooner and for longer! I highly recommend any student to apply to this rotation, Dr. J's the best!" - Magda Brej, MS 4/4 MD JUMC December 2021

"I really enjoyed the rotation at Medicus MD. Inc. I spent an amazing 4 weeks rotating at Drs. Denysiak office and it was a great learning opportunity. Dr. Denysiak is  very passionate about primary care and did everything to make it the most valuable experience. She really enjoys teaching and helped me improve my clinical skills. With her  warm, welcoming nature she connects well with her patients and they trust her.  Moreover the family and friendly atmosphere of the clinic makes it a terrific learning and working environment. Dr. Denysiak truly is a devoted teacher, an outstanding attending and a role model.  I highly recommend this rotation as it is one of the best clinical experiences I had in the United States. "

- Joanna Krajewski, MD (post-doc gap year, Polish Program at UAM Poznan, Poland)

"I had the pleasure of spending a full month with Dr. Denysiak, and my only regret is it couldn't spend another month! She offers what I consider to be the ideal first clerkship experience, providing a holistic introduction to US primary care practice. When I first began the clerkship I felt frankly unsure of my clinical skills, as due to COVID-19 many of our clinical rotations were cancelled or shortened. However thanks to Dr. Denysiak's amazing mentorship, I was able to rapidly learn and reinforce my weak areas over the course of my month there. I left not only having vastly improved and being well prepared for both other clerkships and residency, but also having developed a much deeper understanding of the intricacies of the US healthcare system. Dr. Denysiak has a passion for teaching and it really shows! Both Dr J and Dr B are wonderful mentors, and besides being a rich learning experience, it simply made for an exceptionally pleasant month. I would highly recommend this clerkship opportunity to anyone, and is a must-have opportunity for any student interested in primary care!"

-Kamil Shultz, MS 5/6 MD PUMS July 2021

"I spent a month with Dr. Denysiak at Medicus M.D. Inc. It was my first rotation in the States and I went in not knowing too much about the system. I learned so much in my time there. Dr. Denysiak is an extremely friendly, fun-loving person. Her patients loved her, and I learned a lot about patient interactions over the month. The office also has a great energy, and it was a really enjoyable experience. Dr. Denysiak is a great teacher, and took time out of her day to teach me subjects I was weak in. We really focused on skills that would be needed in future rotations and during residency. Dr. Denysiak would go over my SOAP notes with me to help me improve my notetaking. She also taught me a lot about the intricacies of running a clinic. I got to see what happens behind the scenes, interactions with insurance companies, and the business aspect of medicine. After doing rotations at other clinics, I can confidently say not many other rotations offer such a personalized experience. Dr. Denysiak obviously loves to teach, and wants to help the students she comes across. I highly recommend this clerkship if you get the chance!"

- Patrick Wang, MS 5/6 PUMS, June 2021

" Dr. Denysiak made sure I was ready for residency in the USA! I spent a month with "Dr. J" during the COVID-19 pandemic. While other programs were closing their doors to international students, she was opening hers. Dr. Denysiak provided a personalized and professional learning experience that I consider myself lucky to have taken part in. As a Poznan grad who completed residency in the USA, she is intimately familiar with the unique challenges Polish medical students face when matriculating. As such, she was able to provide education and advice tailored to my goals. I learned not only about the clinical management of patients in an outpatient setting, but also about the business of healthcare, how to navigate US insurance policies, and what will be expected of me in US residency programs.
Dr. Denysiak is fun-loving, spontaneous, lighthearted, and incredibly knowledgable. She was able to provide me with everything from clinical pearls to restaurant recommendations. Overall, this was an outstanding experience that I recommend to any international student looking for residency in the USA."
